What to pack: Carry - on ✈️

The Bag:

I use this camera bag anytime I go abroad and I can't recommend it enough... it opens completely so you can organise and access your things easily, plus it has so many zip-up compartments AND Velcro separators to keep things separate and secure. PLUS it's very high quality and comes in this cute faux croc fabric (win, win!)

ESSENTIALS

Passport

I know I’m stating the obvious here but there’s no such thing as too much checking when it comes to making sure you have your passport… No Passport = No Holiday!

Check when you pack, check when you inevitably repack, check before you leave for the airport and check after you set off. Make sure you have your passport!

Do not forget your passport!

Boarding Pass

Most airlines now allow you to check-in online ahead of travel and if you’re travelling with just your carry-ons then this will allow you to go straight through security on arrival at the airport and straight to your gate… via Duty Free of course! I print mine off at home before I travel but you can now get them on your mobile.

COVID Papers

New but very important – make sure you have your NHS App downloaded in your phone with a valid Covid pass, I print mine off just in case I have no charge/lose my phone etc – always good to have a backup!

Make sure to check the guidelines and requirements for the country you’ll be landing in.

Also be aware of passenger locator forms for your destination – and remember you need one for your return journey too!

Phone

Most of us have them ‘glued to our hands’ as our parents might say but it’s also easy to leave them charging at home or in the taxi; best bet is to put it in your bag and leave it there until you’re through security!

Remember to double check as you go through.

Chargers

Most planes have USB ports now for charging electrical items… plus it’s always handy to have one!

ENTERTAINMENT

Kindle

Better than a book IMO, Take as many books as you want on holiday; you don’t need to annoy people by using the reading light when the plane lights go off.

Earphone; duh, shut out the noise & listen to whatever you want

(I’m also taking a paper book for sunbathing by the pool just incase it gets water on it)

IPAD - if you have an iPad or tablet, I strongly recommend logging onto Netflix and downloading your fave season ahead of flying.. this way you can binge-watch the your fave show as you fly because it's all stored offline and can be accessed in Airplane mode!

COMFORT

Let's face it, flying is long and its uncomfortable but it's necessary if you want to travel! To make the experience as comfortable as possible I bring along a few little bits to keep fresh and as cosy as possible.

Hygiene importance never goes out the window- particularly on a long-haul flight where you'll feel dry and tired in no time. I pack a small travel moisturiser to combat the dry airplane air.

Other useful bits (all travel-size) I always pack are; a foldable toothbrush and toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, hand sanitizer and face wipes. Just the basics but they make such a difference when you're in need of a little freshen up!

Remember you have a 100ml limit for any liquids you're taking through security. Make sure to pack anything bigger in your main case.

Superdrug sell these 3for2 travel minis and they're perfect!

Just another reason I love this bag... easy access to everything - no more rummaging!

Also essential to pack; sleep mask, medical mask and this adjustable foot hammock (just trust me on this one).

This sleep mask is from primark and super comfortable

SNACKS

Quick top tips for packing a plane picnic!

When it comes to crisps, take Pringles- the packaging means the contents won’t crush 😁

If you pre-pack sandwiches I suggest you use reusable Wax Wraps, a good alternative to tin foil/ cling film as they’re more sustainable AND they don’t take up the room a Tupperware would :)

Plus if you’re anything like me and HATE that feeling in your ears as you ascend then some sort of sweetie is a good distraction for takeoff 🛫  I take lollipops 🍭

EXTRA

Top tip; pack an extra tote bag

If you’re like me and love buying souvenirs and bits you’ll struggle with lugging a full carry-on home- my top tip is back an extra tote bag- that way once you’re through security you can divvy the contents into two bags so it’s easier to find the essentials :)

Whatever you end up packing to make you happy the most important thing is to RELAX, you are on holiday after all!
